COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This
course will explore five of Shakespeare's tragedies, along with a selection of sonnets and one comedy
for a look at how the comic structures can also drive tragic outcomes .
EVALUATION METHOD: Midterm exam, final
exam.
ASSIGNMENTS:
Midterm:
A series of short essay responses to questions I will distribute. The midterm will be distributed at the end of week 4's class period and will be due at the beginning of week 5's class period
Final: A series of short essay responses to questions I will distribute.The final will be due by 5 PM on August 18th by email (no physical submissions of finals). In your email subject line, put English 417 final, and make sure your name is on your paper, especially if using a non-CSUN address.

Week Four—Hamlet (Midterm distributed in class, to be due at beginning of class, week Five)
Week Five—King Lear
Week Six—Macbeth (Final distributed in class, due via email by 5PM 8/18)
